My daughter used the 28 Lesson book and jumped her score from 680 to 780. One wrong only! She received a full scholarship to the University of Miami and is currently a freshman. Thank you again for all you have done to help students stay competitive!

I got these for my 17 yo son and with the help of his books and Dr. Steve, he went from 550 to 720. College is expensive - these books are worth every penny.

Just wanted to thank you very much for your help so far! I used to score in the mid-high 400s, now i consistently score around high 600s – low 700. Hopefully by June i will be scoring in the high 700s. Well anyways, this was just to thank you and show how your book helped me immensely.”

I have ordered your book around a month ago and it has helped me so much. I went from a 520 to a 740. I am taking the SAT this Saturday, June 4th (2012) and am super confident that I will score above 720.

I am a tutor in Atlanta, and I’ve taught SAT Math for years. This book is extraordinary.

There’s something about this book that’s drastically different about the others. Other books usually have the layout of 20 sample questions (like they would in the SAT), and you work through them, and check your answers. This book breaks down the types of questions seen in the SAT. Geometry, Algebra, Statistics. And you work through one problem at a time. The book offers multiple methods to approach any given problem. And the thing is that every student tackles math questions differently. By offering multiple angles to the problem, he allows the student to pick the method easiest to him/her.

I’ve used several books such as Kaplan, Princeton Review, Barrons, but honestly there’s nothing different among all those books. I used to teach with those books, but slowly I’ve transitioned all my students to using this book. They have the same layout, but this brings something new and refreshing to the table. I’m happy to see SAT tools like this out on the market!!

    320 AP Calculus AB Problems

I recently purchased Steve’s “320 AP Calculus AB Problems”. I am a fan of Steve’s, and have purchased just about every SAT Prep book that he has written. One of the main reasons I purchased his Calculus title was that it followed the same study format and philosophy as his SAT Math Prep series, which I found extremely informative and logically presented. And not just the SAT Math part of it, but the multiple approaches to solutions, plus wisdom on test taking strategy. However, I digress. Back to Calc AB. Due to the nature of the AP test as compared to the SAT, Steve is a little more surgical with the math in this title. To be fair, I received this title recently, so I haven’t come close to looking at every problem yet. However, concerning the ones I have reviewed, I have found no “and then a miracle occurred” moments. We’ve all been there, right? A teacher is frantically presenting a problem, and you are right with him, understanding everything perfectly, until his very next line. It’s like he changed from using English to Italian, right there before your eyes on the board. Well, with this title, I have found none of that, which for me, is the single most important characteristic of the very best math teachers, Very complete solutions, plus aside comments that can lead of better understanding. As one example, Steve’s treatment of L’Hopital’s Rule. Most teachers will only TELL you the incorrect usage of the Rule. Steve shows you, thereby cementing your understanding of proper Rule application. I have found no errors nor confused solution flows in Steve’s work so far concerning this title. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

I have worked with Steve Warner twice. The first time was in 2007-08 academic school year for the AP Calculus exam. I worked in a group with fellow classmates, and Steve was a phenomenal at explaining and clarifying the concepts from class. I was very happy with the results. I contacted him again in 2012 for preparation for the GRE. Steve's help was paramount in my near-perfect score, and I have gone on to pursue my PhD degree at NYU. Steve is remarkably professional with his students. He is extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend his service to others who are looking to better understand and excel in high level mathematics.

The approach presented by Dr. Steve is exactly what the doctor ordered. No matter whether a student is strong or weak in Math, they will indeed improve their score. The key to success is to follow the instructions laid out in each Lesson – there are no shortcuts to earning a perfect score. All of Dr. Steve’s lessons my child applied and was not only able to get each of the Easy and Medium questions correct, but only miss a whopping 2 Hard level questions in the entire Math section. It is benevolent professors like Dr. Steve that make the journey for high school students less stressful.

I was having trouble with other test books. There were too many problems and no focus. This book told me what I would need to know and prepared me. Finally a book not full of an overload of random problems!!

For many students, just a hundred points or so on the SAT Math score will make the difference between going to your first choice school, or settling for somewhere else. The Strategies in this book are obviously the product of years of experience with the test and they are simple to remember and implement. My oldest children utilized many of these elements to achieve exceptional SAT scores that helped to allow them to choose the schools they wanted to attend, in addition to assisting them in winning merit based scholarships, which are so rare and competitive. One of the most valuable aspects of this book is the mental clarity that will result from knowing the strategies for getting over the rough spots in the test. This is a great investment.

The first impression anyone has of Steve is his intelligence. He is not only one of the most knowledgeable people I know, he also gets things done. The more he has on his plate, the bigger his appetite grows. He is a college professor, accomplished writer, respected publisher, dedicated mentor, and still finds time to play the piano like a master and keep in great physical shape. He has more energy than any three people I know! But the quality I like best about Steve is his sense of humor - just ask his cats.

I just love this book. It is written by an Associate Professor of Mathematics who has also been tutoring SAT Math students over the past decade, so the book is filled with years of experience and knowledge in what students need to know to maximize their marks. I think it is very clearly explained with plenty of good, relevant, practice questions and solutions. The shortcuts and strategies that are taught to help speed up answering the questions are simple and easy to follow, and I like the way the solutions to the problems show both the shortcut strategies, plus the more formal methods that are used at school, to give the student a good comparison between the two methods. The extra tips, optional information and further questions are good too for extra practice.

I think this book would really help those students who are working at an intermediate level to improve their SAT score, and it should really boost their confidence. It is a great self-study book, but would be really helpful for tutors as well. For students studying alone, I think the amount of work in this book is perfect to be covered in a one month period. To be able to improve your SAT score with just one month of good practice makes this book real value for money. Of all the SAT Math books you could choose from, I think this one is the best.

    320 SAT Math Problems

I gave my 11th grader a copy of this book to prepare for taking the SAT. He says:

“This book really helped with learning the ways to go about studying for the SAT, as well as utilities to study with. It contains methodology and practice problems for both the adept, and advanced takers of the SAT. I believe that this book is capable of boosting scores of people at any level, as well as bringing some people to the perfect score. It contains sections ranging from topics about how to guess and pace yourself to how to use a calculator wisely and grid answers correctly.”

Note: My son is in the highest math in an International Baccalaureate program (an intense college prep program) and always scores in the 99th percentile on standardized math exams, yet he still found this book helpful and believes it will increase his math SAT score. He emphasized that it will help students at ANY level.

UPDATE: My son took the SAT last month and scored 800 on math.

The 32 Most Effective SAT Math Strategies

Hi Dr. Steve! I’m a student who is graduating soon, and like most upcoming graduates, the SAT was an obstacle that really hindered my success of getting into my dream college. I took the test blind at first with no knowledge of the type of mathematics to be expected: I was even expecting some physics or pre calculus on the SAT which I look back as a disappointment. I came out with a score of 380, I know it’s pretty disappointing. Months and months after that depressing score, I stumbled upon your books. It’s crazy how a mathematical idiot like myself can go from a sad 380 to a strong 760 in just a period of a couple months. Your content is absolutely golden, sir. What I did was I actually took every problem from your book of 32 strategies, copied them over individually on lined paper, gave a short explanation for the solutions, and taped them on my wall as if I was some psychotic conspiracy theorist. Regardless of the strange studying method, it worked out very nicely. To this day, your math problems are still permeated all over my wall, covering the paint. Not only did you increase my math score significantly, but you also added some life to my boring and dull room. I cannot express my gratitude enough, you are a true savior Dr. Steve. I can honestly say, you’ve saved my life.

Steve is an extraordinary math SAT tutor who is responsible for teaching my son how to raise his math score 100 points in under one month. My son found Steve through online research at a point of complete discouragement in the SAT process. He had been working with a tutor at a company that is the "gold standard" in SAT prep (and a fortune of money) for a year who could not help him improve his math score, despite taking numerous practice tests and investing hours of homework a week. In April, my son received a score of 600 and frustrated and defeated, was ready to give up when he came upon Steve's book which promised to raise his score 100 points in one month. He purchased the book and then called Steve to tutor him through the process. It took only FOUR sessions and Steve's book to result in a math score of 700 in a little LESS than ONE MONTH! My son found Steve to be excellent at explaining math concepts and test taking strategies and extremely caring and encouraging. Steve was flexible in setting up appointments and very communicative with regard to my son's progress and work plan. The 100 point increase is directly related to Steve's outstanding tutoring and the program he created in his book. I highly recommend him as a tutor. My son's results were incredible and exactly what Steve predicted they would be! Thank you so much Steve!!!

I ordered probably five or six different books and study guides. Tried online Kaplan, etc. All of them were terrible and/or not very realistic compared to the real test or just didn’t hold my son’s interest. (Let’s face it, this stuff is dry for students). Your approach involving the Official SAT Study Guide – which are in the form of real tests – was the only one that worked. Just the preamble to your The 32 Most Effective SAT Math Strategies book was worth the purchase of the entire book.

Thanks to you, my son now has a very good shot at his first-choice school. Congratulations on the incredibly important role you play in people’s lives. If one student gets into their first-choice school and that creates a big career boost, you have had an enormous impact, especially in cases where the student is actually quite capable in math, just not very good at tests under time pressure. In addition to the personal impact, if that person earns a lot more money or has greater career satisfaction attributable to admission in a better program, you have literally added an annuity of wealth to the nation with each success. You must feel just great about your impact and you deserve it.

...I like how for each unit, there is a summary with the essential information and equations in order to study efficiently and then many problem sets that help the student to apply that essential information and practice. I do not think I would improve anything about the book. The balance between information and problems is perfect, as well as the quality of the problems
